Revenue from the transportation of international trailers through Georgia has decreased, continuing the downward trend in this sector.
According to data from the State Treasury, in the first eight months of 2025, the state budget received GEL 110.6 million in road tax revenue, a decline of GEL 7.1 million (6%) compared to the same period in 2024.
Road Tax Revenue:
- 8 months of 2024 – GEL 117.7 million
- 8 months of 2025 – GEL 110.6 million
The decline in revenue corresponds to a decrease in the number of trailers passing through Georgian roads. From January to August 2025, 316,015 trailers were transported, down from 336,402 trailers in the same period last year, a reduction of 20,387 units.
In August alone, 38,956 trucks crossed the country, generating GEL 13.6 million in road tax contributions.
The figures highlight the challenges faced by Georgia’s transit corridor, which has traditionally been a key route for international freight traffic in the region.
