The Revenue Service of Georgia’s Ministry of Finance has responded to reports of disruptions at customs checkpoints, calling them “disinformation” and asserting that customs procedures are proceeding smoothly across all border crossings.
In an official statement, the agency said:
“The imports and exports of goods and the movement of individuals in the customs territory of Georgia are fully underway at all customs checkpoints.”
To ensure uninterrupted operations, the number of customs officers has been increased, allowing for 24-hour processing at all entry points. The Revenue Service emphasized that it is in active coordination with customs administrations in Turkey, Armenia, and Azerbaijan to maintain the continuity of international cargo flows.
The statement also highlighted the modern infrastructure at Georgia’s customs checkpoints. According to the Revenue Service, the latest inspection systems, including stationary X-ray scanners, are in place to both accelerate customs procedures and enhance security at the borders.
The agency urged media outlets and the public to refrain from spreading unverified and misleading information, noting the potential negative impact such claims can have on trade and security operations.
“The Revenue Service declares with full responsibility that customs control procedures for both goods and individuals are being carried out smoothly at all checkpoints,” the statement concluded.
