In the first half of 2024, Georgia’s tourism revenue reached a record high of USD 1.9 billion, marking a 5.2% increase from the same period last year and surpassing 2019 levels by 30.4%, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili announced.
The Deputy Minister attributed this growth to increased contributions from the EU and Gulf countries, more airlines and flights, and effective marketing campaigns.
“We have optimistic expectations for the current year. We are sure that the tourism sector of Georgia will reach new record levels by the end of the year, which will positively affect the strengthening of the economy of our country, the sustainability of the tourism sector and, of course, the well-being of our small and medium-sized entrepreneurs,” Mariam Kvrivishvili declared.
According to her, key contributors include the European Union with an increase of USD 30.7 million, totalling USD 246.3 million, Israel with an increase of USD 27.2 million, totalling USD 175.4 million, Turkey with and increase of USD 23.1 million, totalling USD 287 million, Azerbaijan with an increase of USD 17.6 million, totalling USD 78.5 million, and Saudi Arabia with an increase of USD 10.5 million, totalling USD 32.6 million.
