The total amount of damage and destruction suffered by Ukraine due to Russia’s military aggression is estimated at $600-750 billion as of the beginning of 2023. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this at a joint briefing with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen in Kyiv.
“Regarding the large-scale recovery - according to the World Bank's estimates, as of June 1 of last year, the total amount needed for reconstruction as a result of damages and destruction caused by Russia to Ukraine is $350 billion. As of the beginning of 2023, this amount may reach $ 600-750 billion," Shmyhal emphasized.
He added that the number one source of funding for reconstruction should be confiscated Russian assets, because Russia should pay for the destruction.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said during the World Economic Forum in Davos that Ukraine's post-war reconstruction program would be the largest reconstruction project since World War II, Ukrinform reports.
