Russia will appeal to World Trade Organization (WTO) over Western sanctions.
Dmitry Birichevsky, Director of the Economic Cooperation Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs declares, that trade restrictions were adopted in violation of rules and norms.
"Moscow is ready to appeal the trade restrictions, as trade restrictions were adopted in violation of rules and norms. We have enough experience in defending our own interests in the WTO Dispute Settlement Body and we plan to appeal the arbitrary trade restrictions imposed by other member states," the Foreign Ministry spokesman notes.
The European Union said it was looking into suspending 'most-favoured nation' (MFN) treatment for Russia at the World Trade Organization over Moscow's invasion of Ukraine, meaning the blocwould be able to hike tariffs or set quotas on Russian imports.
