IDS Borjomi, one of the largest mineral water producers in Georgia, denied the accusation that the enterprise was intending to replace the protesting workers with other staff from Russia and Ukraine.
Dozens of workers of IDS Borjomi who went on strike about a week ago released a statement on Monday, saying the company was willing to pay more salaries to other employees in order to “punish” those on protest by not paying salaries for two months.
Borjomi in response also said it was limited in financial resources due to frozen accounts, therefore, was unable to pay wages to those who currently were not involved in the production process.
“The #1 and #2 bottling factories are working at minimum load, only for Georgian market as the situation regarding the export markets (80%) is unclear.
We would like to emphasize that the company has not hired any new staff. As for the salary delays, as you know, the company's accounts are frozen, due to which we have limited financial resources, so first of all the employees who are involved in the production process are paid, "- said the Public Relations Office of IDS Borjomi Georgia.
