Large-scale rehabilitation works planned on Rustaveli Avenue may affect the occupancy rates of nearby hotels, according to Nino Chubinidze, general manager of boutique hotel “Shota Rustaveli.” She said that although the hotel is not located directly on the avenue, many guests use routes connected to the area.
Chubinidze explained that the replacement of underground utilities will require excavation of the roadway, with construction planned to continue around the clock in order to complete the project by November. She noted that while the works are necessary, they may have a negative short-term impact on hotels in the area.
She added that construction sites and limited access could create inconvenience for tourists. “If guests leave the hotel and immediately face large excavations, it will naturally affect their experience,” she said, noting that this could reduce demand temporarily.
The hotel management said it has not had direct communication with the city authorities about the project and only learned about the start date of the works through public sources. The Rustaveli Avenue rehabilitation project, valued at GEL 20 million, was awarded to Smart Solutions LLC after the company was named the sole winner of the tender.
