Rustavi Azot (subsidiary of Indorama Corporation) has signed a US$65 million loan agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to support the ongoing growth and modernisation of Rustavi Azot. This investment will finance the construction of a new state-of-the-art low-density ammonium nitrate plant, as well as energy efficiency enhancements at the firm’s existing plant with a view to reducing its environmental impact.
A significant portion of the financing is structured as a Green Loan, in line with the Green Loan Principles of the Loan Market Association, with proceeds directed to eligible projects that enhance energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
Rustavi Azot has been part of Indorama Corporation – a global leader in fertiliser manufacturing – since 2023. It has an annual production capacity of 550,000 tonnes of ammonium nitrate and serves clients across the region. Rustavi Azot’s existing plant is Indorama Corporation’s first European production facility, with the Georgian firm representing a strategic platform for regional growth.
