The single-party parliament is considering an amendment to the Georgian Law “On the Georgian National Academy of Sciences”, according to which the remuneration of the members of the Academy will increase.
Under the current legislation, a full member of the Academy (academician) is assigned a remuneration of at least 1,600 GEL per month throughout his life, which will be 2,000 GEL after the amendments.
A corresponding member of the Academy is assigned a remuneration of at least 1,000 GEL per month throughout his life, which will increase to 1,250 GEL.
In addition, a scholarship holder of the Academy is assigned a remuneration of at least 1,000 GEL per month, which will become 1,250 GEL.
In addition, the monthly remuneration of a full member and corresponding member of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences is at least 1,400 GEL for a full member, and 900 GEL for a corresponding member and scholarship holder. After the changes, the salary of a full member and a corresponding member will be 2,000 and 1,250 GEL, respectively. The scholarship will increase to 1,250 GEL.
