Sanctions against Russia have a negative impact on the economy of Kazakhstan, Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tleuberdi told the Japanese NHK TV channel.

“Economic relations between Russia and Kazakhstan are deep, and in fact the economy of Kazakhstan was negatively affected by the sanctions against Russia. Kazakhstan does not participate in the sanctions against Russia, but adheres to the principle that it will not be used by various companies to circumvent the sanctions. We will continue the current relations between Kazakhstan and Russia,” Tleuberdi answered the TV channel’s question about the impact of the war between Russia and Ukraine.

The Foreign Minister noted that both states are friendly to Kazakhstan. He added that Tokayev called on both sides to sit down at the negotiating table in order to find a peaceful and diplomatic way to resolve this conflict.

“Particular emphasis is placed on the development potential of Kazakhstan as a transit point for transportation and logistics. I think that this will attract foreign investment and become a center connecting Europe and Asia,” he said, KazTag reports.
