Shilda Winery plans to increase annual production from 1.5 million to 2.5 million bottles by 2027, the company’s director Irakli Uglava said. More than 80% of its wine is exported to 15 countries.
Uglava said global wine consumption has been declining, increasing competition and demand for higher-quality products. Shilda plans to focus more on premium wines and reduce its reliance on the Russian market.
The company is expanding its presence in European, US and Asian markets, including Japan, South Korea, Norway and Uzbekistan. Uglava said these markets offer higher average bottle prices and help diversify exports.
Georgia exported $163.6 million worth of wine in the first eight months of 2026, down 1.1% in value and 6.8% in volume year-on-year, with 52,419 tonnes shipped abroad.
