Small wineries in Georgia are now exempt from certification fees for products intended for sale on the domestic market, following a government decree signed by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
According to the Government Administration, the decision entered into force after completing the procedures required under Georgian legislation.
The fee waiver was introduced following consultations with representatives of small wineries, the government said.
Certification itself remains mandatory for small wineries. However, while certification services for alcoholic beverages intended for the domestic market became subject to fees from September 1, the new decree provides that the service will be offered free of charge to small wineries.
