Sony Pictures Entertainment paused business operations in Russia on Friday, two weeks after the studio suspended theatrical releases in the country.
Sony Pictures Entertainment Chairman Tony Vinciquerra wrote to staff that the studio would stop all planned home entertainment releases, including Spider-Man: No Way Home, and any future television distribution deals. Crunchyroll has suspended its anime streaming service in Russia.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with those who have been affected, and it is our hope that a peaceful resolution can be found soon, Vinciquerra wrote.
Sony Music and Sony Interactive Entertainment stopped software and hardware shipments earlier this week, but the decision to suspend operations was a result of the film studio's decision to suspend operations amid growing concerns about the violence in Ukraine, FA News reports.
Other studios like Disney, Netflix, Paramount and WarnerMedia have also halted all operations in the Russia or suspended film releases.
