Georgia’s State Electrosystem has signed a GEL 62.9 million contract with Bemon Engineering and Construction for the construction and reconstruction of major electricity transmission lines.
The project includes double-circuiting the 220 kwh Liakhvi 1-2 and Urbnisi lines, as well as reconstructing and double-circuiting the 220 kwh Lomisi 1-2 line. Three companies participated in the tender, with Bemon initially offering GEL 65.65 million before agreeing on the final price.
Bemon must complete construction and testing within 18 months and commission the facilities within another six months. The project includes a three-year general warranty, while certain components have four- to five-year warranties.
The upgrades will increase transmission capacity and enable renewable energy projects under construction in Shida Kartli to connect to the national electricity grid.
