State-owned enterprises should not be a burden for the budget, - the Minister of Finance, Lasha Khutsishvili said it, while presenting the revised draft budget for 2022 at the Parliament.

“Today, the financial situation of the state-owned enterprises is not really favorable, but it is partly due to the pandemic. But we confirm that the reform of state-owned enterprises is a priority and urgent. The Ministry of Finance is actively working in this direction.

We have donor organizations involved in this process. State-owned enterprises will be one of the topics of discussion in the further program of the International Monetary Fund. Of course, they should not become a burden for the budget and they should fulfill their role in the development of the economy," - said Lasha Khutsishvili.

As for privatization, the Minister of Finance says that their privatization is impossible because they are at a loss.

"It is important to implement the relevant reforms in state-owned enterprises in a timely manner, which will allow us to privatize a large number of enterprises. This should be done in the most transparent way, which is to place it on the local stock exchange using the capital market tool. I think this reform will be an additional incentive for the development of the capital market," - said the Minister.
