The Georgian government plans to spend up to GEL 50 million to purchase and process 40–50 thousand tons of surplus grapes as part of the 2025 vintage program. The application for simplified procurement was recently published by the State Procurement Agency.
The state-owned “Harvest Management Company” will partner with up to 25 wineries across eight districts of Kakheti, using rented capacities to carry out grape collection and processing. The company has requested exemption from advance payment guarantees due to the need for upfront purchases of materials, spare parts, and equipment.
According to the agency, the services, such as grape processing and distillation, will be carried out at 20–25 factories, with no viable alternatives in the region.
The total state budget for viticulture and winemaking in 2025 amounts to GEL 81 million, with most allocated to grape harvest subsidies.
