Georgia’s north-eastern town of Stepantsminda will see updates to its public infrastructure as part of an ongoing state programme that has been running since 2021, the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia said on Wednesday.
Minister Irakli Karseladze noted the rehabilitation and construction works included efforts on the Aleksandre Kazbegi Museum Complex, named after a celebrated author, were in their “final stage”.
"Within the rehabilitation, historical buildings have been restored, [and] modern engineering systems have been installed. Despite many challenges, the main construction works have been successfully completed”, he said.
He added the works involved a “complete renovation” of central and entrance areas of the town and surrounding buildings under the Renewed Regions programme.
A new, 3.5 hectare park will also be added to the town as part of the GEL 13.5 million project co-financed by the World Bank and state budget.
