“It is in our best interests to strengthen our ties with the United States and the European Union as much as possible,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told Georgian journalists in Berlin, where he is attending a Ukraine Recovery Conference.
Expressing his discontent regarding the sanctions, Kobakhidze labelled them as offensive to Georgia and stressed that such measures do not align with the spirit of partnership.
“First and foremost, I want to emphasize that the sanctions are unjustified and deeply offensive to our country and people. Such measures are not in line with the principles of partnership. I remain hopeful that these sanctions will be reevaluated in due course. It is in our interest to strengthen our ties with the United States and the European Union as much as possible.
We are looking forward to seeing corresponding actions in this regard from both our American partners and EU representatives. This would be the right attitude towards the Georgian people and state. I urge everyone to take pragmatic steps and demonstrate the proper and equitable treatment towards our nation,” stated the Prime Minister.
