"Subsidy damages Georgian viticulture and winemaking," - Tamaz Omanadze, the winemaker and founder of Khomlis Marani told bm.ge.
As he noted, high-quality grapes in the country will not remain unsold, and the state should not interfere in private business in this way, because the country will get negative results from subsidies in the future.
"When I talk about state intervention, I do not mean devastating natural disasters, where business support is needed. The state announces the end of subsidies every year and always continues. It destroys Georgian viticulture and winemaking.
We will get negative results of the subsidy in the future. This is damage not facilitation. Subsidy should be stopped from next year, many winemakers who look to the future agree with me," explained Tamaz Omanadze.
According to the National Wine Agency, 1570 tons of Aleksandrouli and Mujuretuli grapes were processed in Ambrolauri municipality. About 1,300 winegrowers handed over grapes to wine enterprises; and the received income reached GEL11 million.
