Subsistence minimum for working age male amounted to GEL 231.3 in February 2022, which was GEL 34.21 or 17% more compared to the same period of the last year, - show data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
The increase in the subsistence minimum is related with high inflation, as inflation rate hit a record high for the last 10 years – 13.7%. Prices are mostly grown on foods, which amounts to 17.3% y-o-y.
As of October, subsistence minimum for average consumer was GEL 204.9, which is an increase of GEL 30.2 compared to the previous year.
