In the first nine months of 2024, Armenian commercial banks paid approximately $265.5 million in taxes, which is 2.5 times higher than the same period in 2021.
The Union of Banks of Armenia (UBA) published data on the tax payments of the country’s commercial banks. According to the report, Armenia's 18 commercial banks contributed around $265.5 million in taxes to the state budget from January to September 2024. By comparison, this figure was about $105.7 million for the same period in 2021.
Overall, the thousand largest taxpayers in Armenia, including banks, contributed over $3.4 billion to the state budget. This amount represents a 52% increase compared to the same period in 2021, when around $2.2 billion was paid.
The banking sector's share in the total tax contributions from the top thousand taxpayers significantly rose - from 4.7% in 2021 to 7.8% in 2024, marking an increase of 3.1 percentage points.
