Tbilisi Transport Company has extended the deadline for GEL 416 million tram construction tender, originally set for December 22, 2025, until February 16, 2026. The extension comes as companies interested in the project submitted questions seeking clarification on the technical specifications.
The tram line, to be built using the Design-Build (DB) method, will connect the 3rd and 4th microdistricts of Didi Digomi with the Didube metro station, aiming to improve passenger movement significantly. According to the project, each tram train will transport at least 300 passengers, and the line will include 11 stops. Contractors will have 36 months to complete the project, with 24 months allocated for construction.
Project requirements include design works, such as topographic and geodetic surveys, soil studies, passenger flow analysis, engineering calculations, and feasibility studies. The infrastructure component covers tracks, a contact line, a tram depot, administrative and technical service buildings, laundry, and security systems. The tram control system will integrate signaling, security, automation, and communication networks. Participating companies must have completed at least two tram lines since 2010.
The tender does not include the purchase of the 11 tram vehicles, which will be acquired through a separate tender to be announced later. The project is part of Tbilisi City Hall’s broader plan to modernize public transport and enhance connectivity in key residential districts.
