The Tbilisi Kindergarten Management Agency has released an official statement regarding the food poisoning incidents documented across capital pre-school facilities.
According to the agency, the relevant authority has suspended educational and caregiving operations across seven public nurseries in Tbilisi to contain epidemiological risks; the remaining 183 facilities continue to operate as normal.
“Children registered at several public kindergartens in Tbilisi developed fever and, in certain instances, nausea and vomiting, subsequently seeking medical attention across various clinics. Upon the recommendations of epidemiologists and in full compliance with statutory provisions, operations at seven public kindergartens have been temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure to mitigate public health risks. The remaining 183 nurseries continue to run as normal.
The Agency, in close coordination with all relevant bodies, including the Tbilisi Epidemiological Surveillance Service, the National Food Agency, the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance, and the National Centre for Disease Control, is undertaking all necessary containment measures,” the official statement read.
For context, the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance has formally launched a criminal investigation into the food poisoning cases reported across 20 kindergartens.
