Georgia’s government has issued a decree establishing a government commission tasked with facilitating the hosting of the 2025 World Fencing Championships.
According to the Georgian government administration, under the terms of the decree, the commission will be led by Georgia’s Minister of Sports, Shalva Gogoladze.
The government commission’s membership includes the first deputies of the Ministers of Internal Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Finance, IDPs from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health, and Social Protection. Additionally, the Head of the Special State Protection Service and the Head of the National Tourism Administration are members.
The Vice Mayor of Tbilisi and the President of the Georgian Fencing Federation have been invited to contribute to the commission’s efforts. To ensure comprehensive preparation for the event, including the planning and implementation of all organizational aspects and the distribution and designation of necessary funding, the Ministry of Sports of Georgia is authorized to create an organizational group. The Ministry of Sports will also function as the commission’s secretariat.
The government administration concluded that Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze would sign the decree.
