Tbilisi's Municipal Inspection has carried out a large-scale operation to remove illegal street trading around Station Square metro station, the Deserter Bazaar, and nearby streets, citing growing safety and sanitation concerns.

According to Municipal Inspection Head Gogi Chikovani, unauthorized vendors had increasingly occupied sidewalks with stalls and temporary structures, obstructing pedestrian movement and forcing people onto roadways. The agency said the illegal activity had also contributed to unsanitary conditions and waste accumulation.

Working together with Tbilservice Group, the municipality cleared sidewalks and roads of unauthorized structures and debris before cleaning the area with specialized equipment. The inspection service said similar enforcement measures will continue across the capital to ensure safe public spaces, improve urban cleanliness, and prevent illegal street trading.
