"Do you know why the vaccination was delayed? In December and January, the country had the opportunity to import Chinese vaccines, but the population refused," Tengiz Tsertsvadze, Director General of the Infectious Diseases, AIDS and Clinical Immunology Research Center, told the Mtavari Arkhi channel.

According to him, the vaccination process in Georgia started after a "long delay", for which Tengiz Tsertsvadze blames the population.

"The vaccination process started after a long delay, therefore, it is not as massive as it should be yet. I will say two things - now all vaccination possibilities are open, all types of the best vaccines are available in unlimited quantities and vaccine service providers are at their maximum.

Other countries do not have that much. We can vaccinate 20-25 thousand people a day. "Do you know why the vaccination was delayed? In December and January, the country had the opportunity to import Chinese vaccines, Sinopharm and Sinovac, but the population refused," said Tengiz Tsertsvadze.

Vaccination in Georgia started on March 15.
