The Central Bank of Armenia and the EBRD have expressed readiness to expand cooperation

During the 33rd annual meeting and business forum of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on May 14, the Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia, Martin Galstyan, held a meeting with EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso.

As reported by the press service of the Central Bank of Armenia, the parties expressed satisfaction with the high level of cooperation during the meeting and discussed issues related to the progress of joint programs, as well as those representing mutual interests.

The Chairman of the Central Bank presented the current events in Armenia's economy and financial sector, and also discussed overcoming existing challenges.

Both parties expressed readiness to expand cooperation between the institutions.

During the event, the Chairman of the Central Bank, Martin Galstyan, also met with the Deputy Chair of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Bhargav Dasgupta.

The meeting discussed ADB programs implemented in Armenia, as well as issues related to capital market development, infrastructure financing, and private sector development in the country.

Armenia has been a member of the EBRD since December 7, 1992. The Bank has financed 210 projects in Armenia, with a total investment portfolio of 2.080 billion euros. The share of investments in the private sector is 81%.

ADB has been working with Armenia since 2005. As of April 2024, the Bank has implemented numerous projects in Armenia totaling $1.9 billion, aimed at developing transportation, finance, energy, water, and other infrastructure sectors.
