The City Hall will compensate from GEL 2,000 to GEL 10,000 to the retailers of the burned-out Borjomi Market. The market is planned to be restored in about 6 months, Tornike Tsereteli, the director of the company Bakami told BM.GE.
According to him, the City Hall is now cleaning up the area, after which it will hand it over to Tbilisi Central. In parallel, an agreement on a new market project is underway.
"The City Hall divided the compensation into three parts based on the area. Vendors with small shopping area will receive 2,000 GEL, while those with a slightly larger area will receive 5,000 GEL, and those with the largest area - 10,000 GEL.
At this stage, the process is as follows: the area will be cleaned, after which it will be transferred to "Tbilisi Central". When the process is completed, Central will enter and build a new market.
It has not yet been agreed on which part or how we will remain. The project agreement is currently underway and, of course, we are having conversations and negotiations.
The City Hall is trying to get all this done as soon as possible. Right now, they are thinking about a period of about 6 months," said Tornike Tsereteli.
According to him, 341 retailers were affected by the fire at Borjomi Market.
