The Georgian National Competition Agency signed a commitment agreement with the company “Zumeri Georgia” in favor of the consumer. The issue was related to the statement of the citizen Veronika Kvitaishvili on the alleged violation of the law of Georgia on the Protection of Consumer Rights.
In accordance with the agreement signed between the Agency and the trader, the company was instructed to:
• To change the company’s internal policy and comply with the requirements of the law;
• A trader is obliged comprehensibly and fully provide the information to a consumer defined by the law in the national language of Georgia, including the obligation related to the replace/repair/return of the defective item;
• The mentioned information should be posted on the website www.zoommer.ge and on any other online platform of the company. Also, to provide a selling price of the goods/services placed in the retail store and on the website in a clear and understandable manner;
• Instructed to restore the rights of those consumers who allegedly suffered damages due to the trader’s policy.
In accordance with the signed commitment agreement, the trader is obliged to submit evidence of the fulfilled obligations to the Agency within 1 (one) month.
For information: from November 2022 - to April 2023, Agency has received 213 applications and a case study has been started on 135 applications. During 6 months the 35 commitment agreement was signed in favor of the consumer on 59 cases. The fact of violation was confirmed in 9 cases (22 cases), and in 3 cases was not confirmed.
