Georgia does not have any deficit of food products, as the country has enough, claiming certain current shortages in markets could be explained by panic buying, - according to Levan Davitashvili, the Georgian Economy Minister.

Levan Davitashvili declares, that there is no need for Georgian citizens to stock up on food products as supply lines are working.

“It is important for the population to be properly informed that there is no objective basis to stock up on some primary consumption products. The country has supplies and Supplies are replenished continuously. This is a very clear and specific message that I want to give to the people.

Processes are being monitored and just as there has been an absolutely groundless panic amid the pandemic, we see the same baseless panic now.

I can directly reassure the population without any superfluous explanation, that there is no reason to panic, our population is not in short supply of anything, the supply of basic consumer products, including food will be uninterrupted and there will be no problems in this regard. The problem is wrong communication and panic purchases, which give temporary effects and only suffer our citizens, "- said Levan Davitashvili.
