The customs of Pulkovo airport in St. Petersburg, ahead of International Women's Day, noted a twofold increase in deliveries of freshly cut flowers from Armenia compared to 2023. Since the beginning of the year, 13.5 tons of flowers have been delivered by airplanes, with the main volume arriving at the end of February and the beginning of March, according to the press service of the Northwest Customs Administration.

"Armenia has delivered 13.5 tons of freshly cut flower products... Compared to the same period last year, the number of deliveries has doubled, and the cargo flow has increased by 2.4 times," the press service told TASS.

Customs officers note that from Yerevan, fresh-cut roses, gerberas, alstroemerias, and Matthiola are most often brought. In 2024, flowers from Armenia are increasingly found on the shelves of flower shops in the Northern capital and surrounding areas, the press service added.

"As part of the control of mutual trade with member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, Pulkovo customs officers cross-check the information of phytosanitary documents with the actual arriving goods. No violations of customs legislation have been detected in the import of flower products," added Anatoly Timoshchenkov, the head of the Pulkovo customs.

Although fresh data on flower exports from Armenia has not yet been published, information provided by the Statistical Committee indicates a consistent growth in flower shipments from Armenia to other countries.

In 2022, a significant portion of flowers exported from Armenia went to Belarus, followed by Russia. Flowers were also sent to the European Union and Romania. Particularly noteworthy are Armenia's successes in flower exports to Georgia, where it leads among suppliers, reaching $1.2 million and 432 tons in 2022.
