Amiran Gamkrelidze, head of the National Center for Disease Control, has been talking about the deterioration of the epidemic in recent days and says that attention must be paid to this.
At the briefing held after the end of the Coordination Council, Amiran Gamkrelidze once again noted that the way to stop the virus is through vaccination.
"The epidemic situation in the country has been steadily improving and all indicators have been declining for almost the last month - incidence, positivity rate, mortality rate have dropped, reproduction index, but for the last 3 days there has been a tendency for the epidemic situation to deteriorate. Please note this. For the last 3 days, we have had 300 units of new cases on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday compared to the previous two weeks than it was on the previous Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and also on the previous Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of the previous two weeks. That is to say, it is a very noteworthy fact that we are slowly starting to see new cases growing again. There can be many reasons for this ... so only mass vaccination will stop this process.
The vaccination rate in the country has dropped and we are in the range of 7-8-9 thousand for the last one week. That’s about 3 times less than we had in August and 2.5 times less than we had in September. This is very bad, ”said Amiran Gamkrelidze.
