The Draft Law on Broadcasting discussed by the Culture Committee

The Culture Committee discussed the Draft Law on Broadcasting and the deriving Bills for the first reading.

According to one of the initiators, the Chair of the Committee, Giorgi Gabunia, a new direction is introduced to the Law regulating cultural-creative broadcasting.

“Cultural-creative broadcasting shall be defined as follows: in accordance with the provisions of this law, cultural-creative broadcasting shall encompass radio broadcasting by non-commercial legal entities of private law, or legal entities of public law, with the primary objective of promoting diverse cultural spheres and providing information on cognitive and contemporary news, all without any commercial motive”, - he elucidated.

The administrative body shall acquire the capacity to undertake cultural-creative broadcasting to facilitate the promotion of various cultural spheres and provide the broad social strata with cognitive information and news.

The Committee endorsed the Draft Law and the deriving legal package.
