Amiran Gamkrelidze, head of the National Center for Disease Control, has talked about the epidemiological situation in the country today and noted that the rate of infection with Covid-19 is at its peak today and it can be called the beginning of the fourth wave.

"We passed the third wave in the middle of May, but the current figures have already exceeded the peak of the third wave - May 17. From this time, the trend of reducing infection continued very well, but did not reach the level that could have been satisfactory. From June 25, the increase in the infection rate started again. This is due to many factors that we often talk about and today we can say, that we have the further development of the third wave, or if you want you can call it the beginning of the fourth wave. It does not matter what we call it, the fact is that the epidemic situation in the country has deteriorated," Amiran Gamkrelidze said.
