The EU's Share In The Exports Is Down – What Does Georgia Sell In The EU

The EU's share in exports has declined. In the first 11M2021, $ 3.8 billion worth of goods were exported from Georgia, of which only $ 643 million went to the EU, which was 16.8% of exports. In return, the share of the CIS increased and amounted to 47.7% in 11M21 instead of 44.6% observed in 2020. Respectively, half of the products were exported in the CIS.

The share of exports to the EU was higher in 2020, which amounted to 20.9% of the total exports. The share of the EU exports was higher in the previous years (18; 2017; 2016; 2015; 2014) exceeding 20% of the total exports.

According to a report on the External Merchandise Trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia, in January-November 2021 copper ores and concentrates reclaimed the first place in the list of top export items, equaling USD 284 million. Exports of hazelnuts and other nuts occupied the third place standing at USD 71.4 million.

Majority Commodity Groups by Exports to the EU:

1. Ores and Copper Concentrates - $ 284.3 million, 131,527 tons;
2. Hazelnuts and other nuts - $ 71.4 million, 14,342 tons;
3. Nitrogenous fertilizers - $ 37.8 million, 155,136 tons;
4. Natural Grape Wines - $ 25.5 million, 7,690 tons;
5. Ferroalloys - $ 20.7 million, 15,699 tons;
6. Spirituous beverages - $ 19.6 million, 6,457 tons;
7. Cars - $ 19.4 million;
8. Waste and scrap of precious metals or precious metal cladding - $ 19.2 million, 150 tons;
9. Mineral and freshwater - $ 19.1 million, 29,222 tons;
10. Wood products - $ 11.1 million, 4,130 tons.
