"The Football Federation will not receive state funding for the first time, because we voluntarily refuse," said Levan Kobiashvili, President and MP of the Georgian Football Federation.
According to the 2021 budget, 6.7 million was allocated for the federation. The same amount of funding was assigned to the federation in previous years. However, the federation spent 4 million GEL from the allocated sum in 2020.
Despite this announcement, the state funding allocated to football will not be reduced, as the major share of the budget is managed not by the federation but by the Football Development Fund, and its funding in 2021 will be 37 million GEL.
However, Football Development Fund finances local football clubs, special subsidies and prizes, as well as business trips.
