Data published by the National Statistical Committee of Armenia indicates a rise in the number of deaths in the country for January 2024. During this period, 2,571 people died, which is 3% more than in January 2023.
The most common cause of death was diseases of the circulatory system, accounting for over half of all cases (57.9% or 1,488 people). This is an 8.2% increase compared to the same period the previous year.
The second most common cause of death is neoplasms, which increased by 3.1% to 460 people.
Among other causes of death are respiratory diseases (9.7% or 249 people, down by 7.1%), diseases of the digestive system (4.4% or 115 people, down by 18.4%), external causes (4.4% or 985 people, down by 15.4%), external causes of morbidity and mortality (2.9% or 74 people, down by 23.7%), and infectious diseases (0.6% or 15 people, up by 25%).
