The Non-governmental and media organizations are suspending cooperation with the government until the "Russian Law" is withdrawn, - accoridng to TI Georgia.
"By breaking their promise and reintroducing the Russian Law, the government is undoubtedly departing from the constitutional framework and altering the country's foreign course. This is a betrayal of the strong will of the Georgian people. Every social stratum, professional group, or social group has urged the government in recent days to drop the Russian Law—scientists, students, doctors, representatives of culture and sports, winemakers, entrepreneurs, farmers, and others are standing on the right side of history.
Furthermore, all international partners—the European Union, NATO, the United Nations, the Council of Europe, and friendly nations—have reiterated that the Russian Law distances us from the European Union. Discussing and adopting the Russian Law is an unconstitutional step that affects all citizens, destroys Georgian democracy, and isolates us with Russia.
Therefore, we are refusing to: a) participate in any meetings with government representatives; b) work within working groups and advisory councils; c) coordinate our efforts with the government in international or other formats.
We work only for the people. We serve only the people and will continue to work to protect the rights of children, women, workers, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups.
80% of these people, and especially civil servants, support and work towards making Georgia a full member of the European Union. The Georgian Dream is requiring them, against their will, to participate in the government's Russian march planned for April 29. With this Russian march, the government aims to return us to the past, while our future lies in Europe. The government is going against our children, future generations, civil servants, and the overwhelming majority who support the European future of this country.
Our response and the response of the Georgian people is as follows:
We will never live by Putin's rules. The Russian Law will never be the choice of the Georgian people.
Yes to Europe! No to the Russian law!
The statement is open for all organizations and media to join", - the statement reads.
