The season of peak sales of raspberries from local farms began in Russia this week, analysts of the EastFruit project report. The first batches of raspberries from the southern regions of the country became available on the market at the end of last week. The prices were too high, but consumers bought berries quite actively. Farms of the Voronezh, Belgorod and Rostov regions have started harvesting raspberries this week.

According to market participants, the first batches of raspberries went on sale practically at the same time as last year. However, starting prices are slightly higher this year than in the previous season.

Today raspberries are sold at 280-350 RUB/kg ($ 3.84-4.79/kg), which is on average 40% more than at the beginning of July last year.

Russian farmers managed to set higher prices for raspberries due to a relatively small supply on the market, since the ripening of raspberries in the farms of the central and western regions slowed down due to the cool rainy weather. At the same time, the demand for berries is quite high, which also supports prices.
