The First Deputy Finance Minister, Giorgi Kakauridze introduced the main parameters of the Budget 2023 to the Committee.
According to him, the economic growth for the last 2 years allowed the Ministry to develop the draft budget to meet the main challenges; in this regard, the reporter outlined the directions to be additionally funded, namely, the salaries, social programs and pensions of the defense and military officers, as well as the salaries of the pedagogues; the extra allocations will be consumed on the rehabilitation and construction of up to 500 schools and the accommodation for IDPs.
Kakauridze informed MPs about the assignments for the Regional Ministry, noting that the budget of the Ministry for 2023 constitutes GEL 2,975 millionL, where GEL 1,894 million will be consumed on the road infrastructure, including GEL 1,231 million for the construction of highways. GEL 520 million has been allocated for the water supply infrastructure, GEL 67 million for solid waste management, and GEL 137 million will be consumed on the school infrastructure; as to the municipalities, the VAT distribution resulted in the increase of the income forecast by 25%.
Kakauridze also introduced the documents for ratification – the loan Agreement between KfW and the Finance Ministry of Georgia, envisaging the improvement of traffic safety in Tbilisi, mitigation of the jams and prevention of air pollution, as well as the acquisition of modern equipment and software; in this view, KfW allocates the loan of 47 ml EURO for 15 years and a grant of 1,5 ml EURO. The project is assigned to Tbilisi Municipal Transport and Urban Development Agency.
