ღვინო

Tamaz Sherazadishvili, the founder of a wine cellar Tales Wine, located in Kvareli, talks to BM.GE about the challenges in the winemaking sector and notes that the situation is very difficult. The winemaker explains that the behavior of tourists in the country has changed and they no longer buy wine.

According to him, the wine company Tales Wine has been operating in the Georgian market since 2019. It produces a total of five types of wine, namely Kisi, Khikhivi, Kakhuri Green, Rkatsiteli and Green Coupage (mixed), as well as Saperavi. The company uses its own raw materials, as well as buys the additional grape from the organic farms.

"The tourist's behavior in the market has changed. Until now, a large number of tourists bought and consumed wine, but now they no longer buy wine. In addition, the competition is very big. Too many shops are closing because they don't have customers. Therefore, we do not have any great expectations this year.

Our products are sold in various restaurants and wine bars across Georgia, such as 8000 Vintages, Wine Gallery and etc. The value of the wine varies from GEL 15 to GEL 25", - says Sherazadishvili.

According to him, 2 people are mainly employed in winemaking, and staff are added during the season. The company processes up to 10 tons of grapes and produces 13,000 bottles of wine during the year.
