“I wasn’t involved in developing the sanction list and I’m not aware of the basis for the decisions that were made” – such was the answer of the US Ambassador Kelly Degnan to the question whether the US and other allies would support Ukraine in their efforts to sanction Ivanishvili and his inner circle.
According to the Ambassador, for the US sanctions are very important tool that can be very effective if they are well implemented since they are designed to influence and change behavior.
“The US doesn’t discuss our sanction policy as we are developing it. We don’t announce it until we impose sanctions but we certainly agree they can be very important tool” – Kelly Degnan said.
