Georgian Association Of Auto Importers talks about the current challenges on the market. The chairman of the Association says that the importers have increased the number of cars, while demand is low, so it directly affects the sales price of the car. Alex Noniadze states that the excess of cars is caused by wrong expectations.
"The problem is that the demand is growing with lower pace compared to the supply. The expectation was that there would be a higher demand, therefore the supply was higher. As a result, there are excess cars on the market, which are waiting for their customers. Importers collect taxes during this time, which increases the cost of the car. However, they have to sell at such a price that they make a loss. There are many such car importers", - says Alex Noniadze, chairman of Georgian Association Of Auto Importers.
Automobiles have a leading position in both imports and exports this year. In 10 months of 2023, cars USD 2.5 billion worth were imported into Georgia, and exports from Georgia exceeded USD 1.7 billion.
