Turkish Ambassador to Georgia Fatma Seren Yazgan urged anti-Namakhvani protesters to admit employees of Turkish investor company ENKA Renewables to their work places.
According to Fatma Seren Yazgan, Georgian energy strategy is Georgia’s affair.
“Whatever is the decision about hydro electric power plants or other energy sources, Georgian energy strategy is Georgia’s affair. It has to be decided by the Georgian government and people. I am concerned about discriminatory statements toward Turkish investor company ENKA.
If anyone discriminates the company only because it is a Turkish company, I will complain and demand cooperation of Georgian people, my friends”, said Turkish Ambassador to Georgia, Fatma Ceren Yazgan.
The Ambassador further said that if construction of Namakhvani HPP was oriented on sustainable energy and protection of environment, then the region’s locals, who would benefit from the project, and those who made decisions, had to talk to each other.
“I am always concerned if anyone threatens Turkish company or its employees. I urge anti-Namakhvani protesters, they have the right to make a protest, but the right is accompanied with the responsibility, so they must not threaten Turkish and Georgian employees. They must have an access to their working places”, - the ambassador stated.
