The recent acquisition of the former Rooms Kokhta hotel in Bakuriani by Silk Road Group is not just another business deal, according to the company’s founder, Giorgi Ramishvili. In a personal statement shared via LinkedIn, Ramishvili emphasized the emotional and symbolic significance of the investment, describing it as a return to a cherished place from his youth.

“For me personally, this investment simply goes beyond a profitable business deal,” Ramishvili wrote. “It also means returning to the beautiful place in the mountains of Georgia for the warm memories it has given me, my entire generation, and our parents’ generations.”

According to Ramishvili, the Bakuriani resort, particularly Kokhta Gora, is deeply tied to his childhood and the early experiences of many Georgians who grew up skiing there. This personal connection, he said, adds sentimental value to the business transaction.

Silk Road Group acquired the hotel from Adjara Group, which opened the property under the Rooms brand in 2019. The facility includes 95 rooms and 70 apartments, along with a restaurant, conference hall, lounge bar, swimming pool, gym, and a panoramic terrace. It will now be operated under the Silk Hospitality brand, though the future branding of the hotel itself has not yet been disclosed.

Ramishvili also linked the purchase to the broader philosophy of Silk Road Group, which has long supported winter sports in Georgia. The company has been a key partner of the Georgian Ski Federation and the national ski team and played a role in Bakuriani's successful hosting of the 2023 FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships.

“Starting with the 2023 World Cup, Bakuriani will host the annual World Cup, and the Kokhta ski slope is currently among the top ten in the world, making Bakuriani a leading winter sports destination,” Ramishvili added.

He concluded by emphasizing the value of skiing as a way to connect with nature and experience joy and freedom, elements that are central not just to his personal life, but also to Silk Road Group’s long-term vision for Georgia’s tourism and recreation sectors.
