This Year, We Have More Low-income Tourists Than Last Year – Tourist Facility "Qorena"

Maiko Kezevadze, founder of the tourist facility Qorena, located in the Imereti region, notes noticeable changes in the 2025 summer tourist season. She shared her observations during an interview on BMGTV's Women's Narrative program.

According to Kezevadze, while tourist flows remain steady and the facility is busy almost every day, there has been a clear shift in the spending behavior of visitors.

“I can’t complain, we still have guests and are busy nearly every day. However, tourists are more low -income this year. Compared to last year, visitors were more willing to spend and came in larger, more active groups,” she said.

She explained that in 2024, Qorena frequently hosted groups of up to 40 people, who participated in various activities such as dinners, culinary masterclasses, and more. In contrast, such large-scale visits have become rare in 2025.

“Last year, large groups would visit at least twice a day. This year, we host such groups only two or three times a month. We are now seeing mostly smaller groups, although there has been a significant increase in the number of people wanting to stay overnight,” she added.

Assessing the season overall, Kezevadze estimates that tourist activity has declined by 20–30% compared to last year.
