Cargo turnover of Poti Port has been significantly increased in 2019. According to statistics of the Ministry of Economy, the port handled 439,388 TEU containers in January-October, up 48% year-over-year. Total cargo volume is 7.2 million t, which is 41% more comparing to the same period of 2018.
Klaus Holm Laursen, Managing Director of APM Terminals Poti explains growth of cargo turnover by three reasons: amendments which has been made to Armenian Customs Legislation, political tensions between Ukraine and Russia and international sanctions on Iran.
It worth to note, that APM Terminals plans to invest $ 250- $ 300 million in the construction of new harbor in Poti Port on the background of increased freight turnover.
