As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, representatives of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, brought to the criminal liability three persons on the fact of manufacturing and sale of products hazardous to human life or health and deception of consumers, committed in large quantities.
Investigation determined that the accused E.J. was buying from individuals, diseased horsemeat, dangerous for human life and health, which, in violation of the mandatory veterinary-sanitary procedures provided by the law, was processed and stored at the place of actual activity in Tbilisi. The accused was selling horse meat to D.Ts, which was processing the meet and selling to accused D.M. Later, accused D.M. in violation of the rule established by the law, was selling it at the trading facilities located in Tbilisi by deceiving the consumers, in the form of beef.
As a result of investigative activities, a large amount of horse meat, intended for sale was seized from the trading facilities and the places of actual activities of the accused.
Investigation is underway under Article 198 and second part of the Article 219 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 3 to 5 years.
