Within the frames of the New Economic Forum in Singapore, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, George Kobulia attended the official reception held for the representatives of the state delegations by Michael Bloomberg and founders of the Forum. Georgian Minister Economy and Sustainable Development participated in the Breakout Session – Roundtable: Financing Belt & Road and delivered the speech there.
George Kobulia explained in details the opportunities that allow Georgia to play a significant role in the new Silk Road project and become a regional hub in the corridor connecting Europe and Asia. The Minister noted that Georgia is a small country who benefits from transit routes for goods and cargo. “We work on leveraging the infrastructure and logistics such as railways and ports. But what is more important, through building the infrastructure we allow Georgian companies to reach the markets around the world,” – George Kobulia noted.
Established in 2018 by Michael Bloomberg, the New Economy Forum is a community of global leaders engaging with the world’s most significant changes and challenges. The inaugural event was held in Singapore on November 6, 2018. Over 400 high ranked officials from different countries participate in the Forum. The forum’s goal is to stimulate productive, fact-driven dialogue among participants in an effort to promote deeper understanding and develop actionable solutions on important global issues.
