“Timber import will be exempted from VAT,” – stated the Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze before the government session today. According to him, with this decision, there will be less motivation for cutting trees in Georgia and there will also be certain benefits for lumber and plank export.
“We will be intolerant to those who is involved in illegal cutting of woods. Forests, regrowth of which takes thousands of years, are being cut out and that is an irreparable damage for the country. We will be very principle. I would like to tell everybody that if somebody is covering up for another person cutting trees illegally, will be punished,” – stated Bakhtadze.
